Post-Pregnancy Masters in Education

Filed under: Masters in Education — Online MBA Editor @ 6:27 pm

I have been a teacher for eight years – working in the same elementary school where I teach third grade. I was lucky to be able to get into such a great school district and took advantage of the position that became available after my student teaching. I had determined that if I was not able to find a position that first year out of school then I would substitute teach, bide my time, and begin pursuing my Masters in Education.

Because the position did become available I was happy to have it and pushed the pursuit of my Masters to the back burner where it has stayed these past eight years. However, because I have been home for the past few months – after giving birth to my first child – I have been re-exploring the idea of using this time to earn by Masters in Education. In fact, because I have the rest of the year on maternity leave I feel that it may be the perfect time to get started on my Masters degree.

What I discovered is even better. The online Masters in Education program allows me to work from my home computer in pursuing my studies; which means that I don’t have to be physically away from my new baby and do not have to worry about child care that would be required to take traditional college classes.

I am feeling energized by my decision to pursue my Masters in Education and know that I can now do so affordably, conveniently, and in a way that works best for my schedule and for my family – especially my newborn baby. With all that is available now online in terms of education it seems that those eight years may have been worth the wait as I now go after that elusive Masters in Education.

Online MBA: All in the Family

Filed under: Online MBA — Online MBA Editor @ 8:32 pm

We are a close family and have done many things together over the years, but nothing could ever compare to the present moment when myself, my husband, and my daughter are all enrolled in a college program – all three of us working toward our online MBA. It started simply enough; my daughter, having left college with an undergraduate degree several years ago, was now looking to return to school in pursuit of her MBA. Feeling frustrated by the scheduling conflicts that she would have to navigate in terms of juggling her classes, her job, and her children, she began to look at alternatives for traditional classes at the local college campuses.

What my daughter eventually found was the option to attend classes online through an online MBA program that was offered through a reputable, accredited college. With this type of program, she reasoned, she could continue to work full time at the job that she loved, and meet her family and household responsibilities without having to completely rearrange her schedule. The online MBA program would give her the opportunity to attend class online where she would be given assignments and readings – and where she would even take scheduled exams. It was the perfect scenario to allow her to pursue something that was very important to her without sacrificing anything of equal importance.

This introduction to an online MBA struck a chord with both myself and my husband – as the both of us had given up the option of pursuing such a degree in deference to everything else in our lives. Now, with some time to pursue such endeavors, we felt that the online MBA program would be the best scenario and something we could do together as a family.

Today, all three of us are pursuing an online MBA and we’re closer than ever – sharing a common goal and a united dream.

Starting the New Year in an Online Business Degree Program

Filed under: Online Business Degree — Online MBA Editor @ 11:29 am

Not many of us turn up our noses at January 1st as just another day; in fact, most of us look at this one particular day in our year as a turning point in which we can clear the slate and start over in terms of pursuing those goals that are important to us. New Year’s resolutions, as they are often referred to, are our opportunity to start clean and get motivated; something that our society really loves to do and responds to, at least in the short term.

Such a time of the year may inspire those who have been considering going back to school to look into what is required of them through this process. And what they may come to realize is that there are far more opportunities in terms of education than there were when they initially left the classroom. Today, online degrees are the popular way to pursue an education for those who already shoulder much responsibility and would not have the time or the inclination to commute to a traditional campus.

An online business degree, for example – a program that offers the popular business degree for which many professionals return to school to pursue – can be found through many highly reputable colleges and universities; a way to engage an audience that has limited time and the ability to work independently from their computer and through their Internet connection.

An online business degree can be pursued while the student simultaneously works full time, raises a family, and engages in all the activities and daily schedules that make traditional class work out of the question. There is only the need for a computer and the time it takes to work on your own in order to earn an online business degree. And even come February, when everyone else’s New Year’s resolutions have gone out the window, you’ll still be on the road to a degree.

Following Up Undergraduate with an Online MBA

Filed under: Online MBA — Online MBA Editor @ 11:27 am

Going to college after high school has become more the norm than anything else. While it used to be that some kids when straight to work or even took some time off before entering college, today it is more likely that they will go straight to school to begin their work on their undergraduate degree. Even more surprising is the fact that after they complete their undergraduate program many students will continue straight through to get their Master’s Degree.

While this is a commendable road to travel sometimes the price is simply too high for those who have been in school for the last four years with their family managing the financial responsibility or student loans accruing yearly. For some students, it comes down to making the decision to stay in school and grind it out or get a job that will help them manage their debt or alleviate their family’s financial burden. And it used to be that they were the only choices; but no longer.

Today’s online degree programs allow students in all situations the utmost in flexibility. They need no longer choose between work and school when there is the opportunity to do both with a computer and an Internet connection. Those who graduate with their undergraduate degree and choose to move on in their schooling can pursue everything from an online MBA to a Masters in Education during time periods of their day and week that are most convenient for them. This level of flexibility allows graduate degree students to work full time if they desire without having to give up their dreams of continuing their education. There is no longer a need to put plans on hold with the online degree programs that are now offered – making education, career advancement, and income earning goals that can be achieved simultaneously.

My Daughter Chooses an Online IT Degree

Filed under: Online IT Degree — Online MBA Editor @ 5:37 pm

I thought that having a child who was going through the “terrible twos” was stressful and then I thought that those cranky pre-adolescent years were pretty tough; but they were nothing compared to my daughter’s teenage years when I was essentially the enemy against which she waged a ceaseless and bloody war. Nothing I could say to her was received with anything resembling consideration; I was wrong before I could even get word one out of my mouth; and as we proceeded like this through her high school years I became alarmed that she was going to forgo college simply because I thought it a good idea that she go. I swore off making any college-related inquiries.

Come her senior year, however, things really began to mellow. I saw the signs that my child was maturing and stepping up to the plate to make decisions for herself that would impact her life. One day when I was feeling bright and sunny about the thaw in our unspoken cold war I asked her about her plans for college. And guess what? She HAD a plan! Although it was certainly not what I expected.

When I think of college I think of a campus on which young adults engage in all the classic college experiences like pep rallies and fraternity pranks. But my daughter did not hold the same esteem for these traditions and desired instead to make her way in the world of work. This did not mean, however, that she was giving up on school. She could do both she told me and she would do it online.

I fully admit that this is unfamiliar territory for me but when my daughter showed me the online IT degree program in which she was interested I couldn’t help but be impressed. She would be able to work and complete all her studies at night. And, she said, she may even get an online business degree while she was at it. Times, I recognized with happiness, were changing.

A Nonprofit Management Degree for Me!

Filed under: Nonprofit Management — Online MBA Editor @ 2:32 pm

I was never one that considered myself college material; I just had no interest in going to school beyond my senior year in high school which was, of course, a source of many arguments between myself and my parents throughout that year. They wanted me to get a degree – any degree – and I tried to explain to them that it was a waste of my time and their money for me to pursue something simply for a piece of paper (ahhh, the innocence of youth). It was an endless battle about what I was going to do come graduation when all I really wanted to do was get a job and start my life. I had already been working part time for the last year at a nonprofit organization that raised money for kids with cancer and I thought that was something I could continue to do – this time on a full time basis.

I did graduate and I did start working at my job full time but I quickly realized that if I wanted to excel in this field of work I was going to have to have a degree behind me – lo and behold, my parents were right; oh the horror!!

I knew that if I wanted to pursue a degree now was the time but I really did not want to give up my job; it was something that I loved, something I was good at, and somewhere I wanted to stay when I had finally gotten my degree. That’s when I found the online nonprofit management degree program in which I am now enrolled.

While doing an Internet search one night looking for programs to which I could apply I was stunned to learn that I could attend school online for nonprofit management. In fact, there were a host of online degree programs including an online business degree and even an online MBA program! Now that I am enrolled in school – but doing it my way – I feel like I am finally pursuing something meaningful. I know my nonprofit management degree will be a decision I will never regret!

An Online Degree During Downtime

Filed under: Online Business Degree, Online IT Degree, Online MBA — Online MBA Editor @ 1:31 pm

There are, unfortunately, many people finding themselves without jobs right now as businesses reassess and find ways to cut corners and keep their doors open. With layoffs at an all time high in recent years, there are more people in the market for jobs and less and less jobs available. This of course will turn as it always does; the job market ebbs and flows according to the economy and those in it will see brighter days ahead. But this does not make these darker days any less stressful.

While it may seem counterintuitive to spend more money right now, the fact is that for those of us with some time on our hands these days and weeks represent a time that we may never get back; a time in which we can do something for ourselves that may even propel us forward in our career as we look for more opportunities down the road. An online degree program is a way in which non-traditional students can pursue the degree of their choice without giving anything up in terms of their current schedule.

Those with a computer and an Internet connection know how easy it is to go back to school even if they are not making that drive and sitting behind that classroom desk. Everything from an online business degree to an online IT degree is available through online degree programs in reputable colleges and universities around the country.

So instead of waiting around for the job market to turn, many people are making ends meet with “filler” full time or part time jobs and returning to school by turning on their computers. This small investment ensures them that when they do return to their careers, this time perhaps armed with an online MBA, they’ll be able to hit the ground running.

Give an Online Degree as a Holiday Gift

Filed under: Online Business Degree — Online MBA Editor @ 12:07 pm

There will be many gifts given and received this holiday season; most that fit the bill for the current time period but which may very well be forgotten by the end of January. Such is the way of the holidays – we run around, scrambling to find something that we know the recipient will love and often spending more money than we have to do so. And within a month’s time that very thing that that we gave with love, that they loved so much, is essentially discarded to a corner of a room or the bottom of a drawer – used here and there but largely forgotten about.

Giving gifts with longevity is the challenge of every holiday season. And there are ways to do just that. But it goes beyond finding the gift of the moment and comes down to finding something that will be utilized throughout the year; something that will resonate deeper than any “thing” that they may quickly forget about as soon as the wrapping paper is discarded.

For those who may talked about going back to school for as long as you’ve known them, there is a holiday gift that will not only bring a few moment’s worth of joy but will open many doors of opportunity for years and years to come. The online degree is something that has gained popularity over the years; transitioning students from classrooms to at-home computers. And it has made going back to school easier than ever as people pursue their online business degree, online IT degree, and even online MBA.

While you certainly cannot map out a person’s future for them you can at least put the tools in their hand to change their life. By gathering all of the information you can about online degree programs and giving it as a gift you can give a gift that will last a lifetime.

Taking an Online Business Degree One Course at a Time

Filed under: Online Business Degree — Online MBA Editor @ 5:08 pm

I have always been the one in my family that jumped into any situation all at once without giving too much thought to it. If I liked it and it looked good then I was all in and the consequences were something that I would deal with at a much later date. Sometimes this worked out for me – jumping in with gusto granted me many lovely rewards. But sometimes it did not work out and I paid the price of putting all my eggs in one basket without any thought whatsoever to what I would do afterwards.

When I left college – right in the middle of my degree program – it was the seventies and I was much more interested in exploring the world than sitting behind a desk, classroom or otherwise. This was one of my signature moves and to this day it is the only one that has had both worked out and not worked out. On one hand I did get to explore the world and I met a lot of great people doing it, including my wife. Also, I got to see places that I would never have had the chance to see if I had been in school.

On the other hand, however, there was just never a good time to go back for that degree and by the time I was even in a place to consider it we had started a family and just having a steady paycheck was our only priority. And so it went. Going back to school hadn’t been in my head for years and years when I came across information about the online business degree programs there were now available.

I was amazed to see that just by taking an online business degree class here and there – and doing all the work through the computer when it was convenient for me – I would be back on track to earning my degree. Sometimes a road not taken is a regret; but sometimes life has a way of letting you eventually explore both roads.
