Moving into Administrative Work with a Masters in Education

Filed under: Masters in Education — Online MBA Editor @ 5:01 pm

The career of a teacher can be told in the stories they carry with them from the classroom; the students they have had an impact on, the lessons they have taught, the faces they have seen grow, and the years which they have dedicated to a school. There is much honor in the work of a teacher and those who love education often find themselves traveling down various paths throughout their career. In fact, many teachers find that at some point in their careers they are interested in moving into the administrative end of education, in which there are many fine careers that help to shape the curriculum and operations of our schools.

Typically what many of these positions will require, however, is a Masters in Education; a degree that would have traditionally required someone to go back to school to earn. Many times the thought of juggling the schedule necessary to complete such a degree in this conventional manner is too overwhelming for older students who have had a break in their schooling and now have many responsibilities to which to attend.

But with some research it is often duly noted that online degree programs are more prevalent than ever before; a result of the continued growth and popularity of the Internet. More and more people are recognizing the benefit of online learning and utilizing the flexibility and convenience of the Internet to pursue their goals.

With the ability to earn a Masters in Education online, teachers are able to continue their work in the classroom and begin their journey towards the next phase in their career. The convenience of completing their work during off-hours gives them far more flexibility and the time they need to really buckle down and earn the degree that will deliver them with many additional opportunities.

Discovering a Whole New World of Education

Filed under: Masters in Education, Online IT Degree — Online MBA Editor @ 10:06 am

It used to be that going to college was a committed physical experience; you, at the very least, traveled to a campus everyday where you sat amongst your peers in a lecture hall or classroom and worked through your chosen degree program. And in most cases, you were typically a resident as well as a student, living in an on-campus apartment or in a dormitory with people your age.

The world of college is a very different experience these days as people in all stages of their lives made the decision to return to school and bring with it their own particular circumstances. A family man with a job and children would be hard pressed to go back to that campus commute anymore; and luckily he doesn’t have to.

Today, online learning has completely transformed the world of education. There is no longer the physical commitment necessary to attend school – presence in a classroom or lecture hall simply not required. From an online IT degree for someone looking to enter the world of computer technology to an online MBA for someone wanting to earn their masters in a particular sector of business, the online degree programs have something for everyone in terms of subject matter and schedule.

A teacher going after her Master’s in Education can work during the day and do her work for school at night; an online business degree can be earned on the weekends or during other off hours; and a degree in nonprofit management can propel someone to the front of the pack in terms of the interview process.

Whatever the desire in school the online degree program has something for everyone and can be a way for people to do it all in this day and age when doing it all has become the standard instead of the exception.

A Masters in Education for a Young Teacher

Filed under: Masters in Education — Online MBA Editor @ 4:47 pm

Teachers who have, in essence, just begun their careers often jump on the first job they can find after college. After all, it’s difficult to get into particular school districts and sometimes there are no options when it comes to choosing exactly what grade you want to teach. It’s best to simply get your foot in the door and make changes from the inside as more opportunity becomes available.

The need or desire to get a job right out of the gate is one of the reasons that many who have received their undergraduate degree in education bypass the choice to go straight on to earning their Master’s Degree. It may be that their expenses are such that they can no longer afford going to school full time and must get a job in order to support further schooling, or they may find themselves with a career opportunity that they simply cannot pass up, especially in this economy.

But now immersed in that job and getting comfortable with the school and the classroom, that new teacher may still not want to lose the momentum she had gained through her undergraduate work; momentum, she has been told, that is difficult to recapture when you let too much time go by between earning an undergraduate degree and continuing on in a Master’s program.

The option, of course, is to look at online learning where the ability to pursue degree programs in everything from Nonprofit Management to a Masters in Education is possible. This type of learning is fast becoming the most popular choice for those who are interested in continuing school in a non-traditional manner; something that supports their schedule and allows them the flexibility and control that they need to manage a multitude of responsibilities including family and a full time job.

Nonprofit Management: A Life Choice

Filed under: Nonprofit Management — Online MBA Editor @ 8:48 pm

Many people would certainly look at me strangely if I were to tell them that I was planning on leaving my career of the last fifteen years in accounting and going into nonprofit management. They would want to know why; they would want to know if I was aware of the present economy; and they would certainly want to know how these two careers could ever be related in terms of my interests.

I would tell them that accounting was a job and not an interest; that my passion is helping people. I would tell them that I am aware of the economy (who isn’t?) and that is why I am keeping my job while I attend school online to prepare for my new career; and I would tell them that the reason for all of this is that it’s time to do something that I love. I think we can all relate to that.

Online learning has made my decision to go into nonprofit management something real. Without the flexibility of an online degree program there would be no way I would be able to fit classes into my already packed schedule. I would never be able to afford to leave my job and go to school full time and by the time I took the number of night classes that I needed (the only time of day that I could attend class) I would be looking at many years of school ahead of me.

But the online program for nonprofit management gives me options. I can work during the day and do my work for school whenever it is convenient. My home computer is always there; I just need to sit and get started – no driving required!

I am happy to say that my new career in nonprofit management can be a reality because of online learning; I feel very grateful to have the option.

An Online IT Degree Helps Create Opportunity

Filed under: Online IT Degree — Online MBA Editor @ 4:23 pm

It is a true fact that we could all use more opportunities these days as jobs are cut and positions into which we may fit dwindle by the day. The economy will eventually turn around – as it always does – but in the meantime what are we to do about making sure we are marketable in a market that doesn’t appear to be hiring?

Those in jobs in which the money comes fast and furious when times are good and is the first to be cut when times are tough are finding the need to explore other career options available to them. Creative careers – such as those in advertising and marketing – are suffering as budgets have been cut way back in these areas in order to preserve financial resources. Instead, people are looking at careers in industries where there will likely always be a need for workers – such as in healthcare and technology.

The computer is here to stay regardless of the state of the economy; and the reality is that the field of Information Technology continues to grow. Such is the reason that so many people are now exploring the possibility of earning an IT degree in order to give them more marketability in this tough market and allow them another option to earn money. But how do people go about earning such a degree when they can hardly give up full time work in order to go to school?

The answer is the online IT degree which allows students to study and complete their course requirements from home. This is an educational option that continues to grow in popularity and for good reason. People who want to continue their education and not have to sacrifice their job or other activities have turned to the Internet where all the modern conveniences are at our fingertips. There, they have found, they can go back to school without leaving home – completing an online business degree or a degree in nonprofit management at their own convenience. Suddenly there are more opportunities than we could have ever imagined.

The Icing on the Educational Cake with My Online MBA

Filed under: Online Business Degree, Online MBA — Online MBA Editor @ 6:22 pm

I have been working most fastidiously towards my online business degree for some time. Having made the decision to finally go after the college degree that had alluded me for some twelve years, I discovered that the decision between school and work was not an either/or situation. I could very easily continue to work full time – as my budget dictated that I do – while still pursuing my studies by going through an online program that would allow me to work at my own convenience.

I have never regretted my decision to pursue my degree online – not once since the day I started. The truth is that without this option available to me I could not imagine how I would have been able to pull it all off – balancing work and school and all that goes with it; I know for sure that it would have definitely taken me much longer to complete my undergraduate degree than it did.

But as it stands now I will be graduating from my online business degree program in the spring and will finally have my undergraduate degree in hand. I could not be prouder of myself or feel more accomplished. But more than that, I have found that I simply don’t want to stop; I have gotten into a real routine when it comes to work and school and I have decided to take advantage of this momentum by continuing on to earn my online MBA.

I never in a million years would have imagined that at this time not only would I be getting my undergraduate degree but I would be preparing to begin my graduate work. The online business degree program and the online MBA program have made it possible for me to not only reach by goals – but surpass them by a mile.

An Online Business Degree Offers Choice

Filed under: Online Business Degree — Online MBA Editor @ 11:07 am

I never associated education with choice as I was the girl who was expected to go to college straight from high school and expected to get my teaching degree regardless of whether or not that was what I really wanted to do for a living. My parents were old school and considered a career as a teacher to be a noble profession – as it is – and one that would always allow me to be employable and earn my own money – as it has done. I cannot say that teaching has let me down in terms of being able to take care of myself and always have work – and in fact I am quite good at it – but it never fulfilled me on a personal level. Teachers are often very passionate about what they do and while I was good at the job it never inspired me with passion; maybe because it was not something that I actively chose as a young adult who did not have the maturity or wherewithal to say no to her parents.

I taught in my local school district for ten years but have recently made the decision to pursue other interests in the business world where, I must admit, I feel the most comfortable. To that end, I have enrolled in an online business degree program where I can begin my work towards my new career without having to sacrifice my current career. After all, in this economy no one should be randomly leaving their job.

The online business degree program is generalized enough that it will offer me many options in terms of my career beyond the program and I feel really good about having so many options in front of me. My plan after this program is complete is to pursue my online MBA the same way so that I can really have all the resources at my disposal to make my own career choices going forward.

Variety in Online Degree Programs

Filed under: Online IT Degree — Online MBA Editor @ 6:29 pm

If you went to college then you know what it felt like when you were first looking at all that your school had to offer in terms of courses and degree programs. No matter what the size of our college this first experience surely had most of us completely overwhelmed with the choices that we had, especially for those of us who came directly from high school where there was anything but choice and our curriculum was essentially laid out for us. The world was our oyster and we were free to study whatever interested us in working towards the degree of our choice.

Many would be surprised to learn that this variety is now offered online through reputable, accredited colleges and universities that offer online degree programs. Even just five years ago the world of online learning had not reached the level that it enjoys today; students who were interested in attending Internet courses were typically only “filling in” their requirements with the courses that could be found online; the pickings were indeed slim.

But today the online learning environment offers a rich variety of degree programs - everything from the online IT degree and a Masters in Education to an online business degree and online MBA. Times have certainly changed in terms of learning online and students have reaped the many benefits that come with being able to set their own schedule and balance school, work, and family responsibilities. In many cases the need to travel to a traditional campus has become obsolete in the technical sense. Students in all situations, in all walks of life, and in pursuit of nearly any degree one could think of would be hard pressed not to be able to find an online degree program that fits their varied needs and help them meet their educational and career objectives.

Giving Back to the Community with Nonprofit Management

Filed under: Nonprofit Management — Online MBA Editor @ 7:51 pm

I have had many careers in my lifetime including positions in finance, education, and even marketing. But now in my fifties I am about to embark on a new career path in which I am able to give something of myself to the community at large and help people while also earning a living. For the past decade I have volunteered with an area nonprofit organization that stocks a food pantry and provides emergency medical services, along with other services, to the community. This is always something that I have done on the side of my actual career; I would come in after work or on weekends to do what I could. But now, after having been laid off, along with many others, from my job at a bank I have decided to make my time at this nonprofit organization more than just a volunteer position.

I had spoken to the executive staff of the organization; they were all happy to have me on board, especially with my experience in a variety of industries in addition to my familiarity with the organization. But all the experience in the world wouldn’t replace a degree in nonprofit management; a degree that they asked me to earn even as I took my place on their full time staff.

Earning a degree in nonprofit management was not as difficult as I thought as there was now the option of earning it online. I was so happy to find out that I could complete all of my coursework in my off hours and still focus all my efforts on learning the ropes of my new job during work hours.

In just a few short months I’ll be well into my new career and I’ll have a degree in nonprofit management; it marks a new chapter in my life.

Finishing My Education with an Online MBA

Filed under: Online MBA — Online MBA Editor @ 3:47 pm

A long time ago, in a college far, far away I earned my undergraduate degree in business; and feeling inspired by my accomplishment and bolstered by my newly acquired student loan, I immediately headed back to the classroom following graduation to start work on my MBA. This had always been my plan – to complete my degrees back to back before life stepped in and this kind of focused time and energy became less possible to spare. But only six months into my MBA program life stepped in anyway when my father died suddenly. My family was in a cloud of grief for years to come and with so many administrative, financial, legal, and – of course – emotional issues to sort out I was simply not able to continue with school.

Life continued as it somehow manages to do and before long I found myself in a career and soon with a family of my own. Many things had happened over the course of this time but I had never given up the hope of continuing my education and earning an MBA.

One night, while surfing the Internet, I decided to look into area schools that offered an MBA program thinking that if there was a school close enough I could juggle some night classes to get me back on track. But I found something better.

What I found was an online MBA program that would allow me to finish the education I had started but without having to actually attend a physical classroom. There were many online degrees to choose from including an online business degree, a Masters in Education, an online IT degree and even a degree in Nonprofit Management, among many others.

I am happy to say that I am finally going back to school. My online MBA program will deliver me the accomplishment that I have waited so long to achieve.
