Maternity and Masters in Education

Filed under: Masters in Education — Online MBA Editor @ 7:23 pm

Having taught third grade for the last six years I am well entrenched in my school district where I have really come to be at home with the kids, their parents, and our extended school community. But at this time in my life I was taking a break from teaching every day as I stayed home with my newborn daughter. I was on long term maternity leave from my school with a year ahead of me to be with my child and enjoy the many milestones that were going to take place over the coming months. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to have this time with my baby but I was also looking at this period of time as an opportunity to further my education.

I had long wanted to pursue my Masters in Education. But the reality was that I was not able to put the hours into teaching that I needed to in order to be successful and get my Masters Degree at the same time. I had taken some classes over my summer breaks in addition to working a part time job. But this time I would have uninterrupted time to really focus on my studies.

But because I was home with my baby driving to a college campus like I had been doing in the summers was simply out of the question. I chose instead to go after an online Masters in Education. With an online degree program I could sit at the computer when my daughter was sleeping and do my school work – and I would never have to be away from her in order to get my education.

This online Masters in Education program was the absolute greatest opportunity at this time in my life – a chance to be with my daughter and further my education.

An Online IT Degree and Much More This Summer

Filed under: Online IT Degree — Online MBA Editor @ 9:30 pm

I usually take some time off from my job during the summer (I work part time) so I can spend some time with my kids, while simultaneously avoiding the hefty child care expenses that I would accrue during these weeks of the season. This summer is going to be a bit different however. This summer I have decided that, in addition to being at home with my kids, I’m going to go back to school. How do I both you ask? Through an online degree program.

I had no idea there were so many options for getting an education online but once I looked into the possibilities I realized that I could do so much that I had not thought possible. Just being at home for that period of time would allow me to get settled into a routine – working online right in my own home so I could start to accrue the credits I needed to earn my online IT degree.

Better still, the online IT degree program didn’t have to end when the summer did. I could continue to take my classes when I was home from work – on my days off and during the evenings and weekends. Before I would know it I would have my degree – something that I had not even considered to be a possibility while still maintaining a job and some semblance of a family life.

Starting the degree was a big thing but it wasn’t the only thing. Making a decision like this was a big step for me in my pursuit of something that was my own; something that was important to me. So not only would I get an online IT degree I would have the feeling of self-satisfaction that comes with making huge strides in the personal goals that you have set out for yourself. It was going to be a big summer.

Changing Careers? Online Degree Program from Nonprofit Management to Online MBA, Part I

Filed under: Nonprofit Management, Online Degree, Online MBA — Online MBA Editor @ 12:41 pm

Making a career change can be difficult on a number of levels. For one, once you are immersed in a career it takes a whole lot of courage to change course, especially the further down the road you happen to be at the time. Secondly, there are financial considerations associated with such a move. You may ultimately wind up making more money depending on the career that you are choosing but initially there may be some financial bounce as you make a move; and especially if you have to go back to school to earn another degree.

But for those who are courageous enough to make the move, the rewards can be quite sweet indeed. There is often a great pay off for those who are willing to make a jump and put the work into being happier and more self-fulfilled.

The Internet has become – over the last several years – one of the most important components of career searches. We have become accustomed over time to having the ability to seek out jobs through online resources; there are websites that have made the whole thing much more convenient that ever. We are able to seek out jobs in our area and according to our specifications by simply choosing specific search criteria. And, should we find the job interesting we have the ability to even submit our resume online.

So it’s not surprising that getting the education to help us make a career change can be just as conveniently found online. Through online resources we now have the ability to get an online degree – everything from nonprofit management to an online MBA. This type of learning is quickly becoming the standard in modern learning for obvious reasons – most specifically that it allows students to pursue their schooling in tandem with working. Tackling an Injury…and an Online Business Degree, Part II

Filed under: Online Business Degree — Online MBA Editor @ 12:55 pm

In the last post I talked about the injuries I had sustained as a result of a motor vehicle accident in which I had been involved. I was tackling painful back and leg injuries and was challenged with a huge change in lifestyle. Not able to work during this period of time I was essentially homebound other than the times that I left to go to rehabilitation as I tried to rebuild my physical strength. I was feeling isolated and completely alone when my husband went to work and I missed the activity of my days prior to my accident.

But instead of wallowing in self pity, I chose instead to turn this situation around for myself and began to pursue the idea of an online business degree. Rather than sit on the couch and watch television while I recuperated I decided to use the time wisely and pursue the college education that I had always wanted to finish but was unable to for financial reasons and later, because I couldn’t leave my full time job to devote the time to school.

The online business degree was actually the perfect scenario for me. I could use the time I had to sit on the computer and do my school work and in so doing not only was I pursuing my degree I was connecting with the world outside of my home. I looked into an online IT degree and even a degree in nonprofit management but ultimately I thought the online business degree program would give me the most versatility in marketing myself.

Going after an online business degree has completely opened up my world and I am finally feeling like there may be a light at the end of this tunnel. But more than anything it has allowed me to turn a bad situation into something that will have a positive outcome.

Tackling an Injury…and an Online Business Degree, Part I

Filed under: Online Business Degree — Online MBA Editor @ 7:31 pm

Getting hurt is never an easy thing and when the injury is long lasting and affects your quality of life – as well as your daily routine – it can make getting back into a normal “groove” very difficult indeed. I was dealing with the repercussions of an injury I had sustained in a motor vehicle accident. While I was happy to have walked away from the accident at all, I was having trouble dealing with the very painful leg and back injuries that I sustained; injuries that had at first kept me in the hospital and undergoing painful rehabilitation. Now that I was home I was still recuperating and had limited movement. But I was still going to therapy three times a week which took a lot out of me physically.

Many people were therefore surprised that I chose this particular time in my life to pursue an online business degree. But honestly it felt like the perfect time to me. I had time on my hands; time during which if I was sitting idle I was consumed with myself, my pain, and the future. I wanted to stay busy – like I was in rehabilitation. Plus, I had always wanted to go back and earn my college degree – something that I had never done and couldn’t figure out how to do while I also worked a full time job. But now, because I was not able to go to work and was out on disability, I had the time I had always wanted to devote to my schooling.

There was also the fact that I had physical limitations at this particular point in time which made the online business degree the perfect choice. No need to go anywhere; I had only to logon to my computer and I was instantly at school. And for someone who was feeling cut off from the rest of the world this couldn’t have come at a better time. Online MBA – Finishing My Education Online

Filed under: Online MBA — Online MBA Editor @ 5:49 pm

Finishing my education has always been a priority for me. Finishing my undergraduate degree was difficult enough; I worked several jobs to put myself through school and, subsequently, it took me much longer than my peers to finally get my degree. I was so proud of myself when I finally finished and I wish I could have continued on with my graduate degree. But the truth was that I just couldn’t afford to continue on immediately; I needed to have a job in order to pay for my education and getting into a good position was a priority. Fortunately I was able to find something right away and I jumped on the opportunity. But this, of course, put my education on hold.

Now that I’m several years into my career I knew that it was time to finally think about going forward with my education. But I was also concerned about maintaining my job; doing everything would be a challenge. That’s when I looked into getting an online education.

I applied for an online MBA program – something that would allow me to work from home to complete my degree. My online MBA program has given me the opportunity to do all that I need to do to stay in my job and continue to do a great job. But I also complete all of my work at home during my off hours – working towards my graduate degree.

I have been pleased to find so much opportunity in the online degree programs and have recommended it to all of my friends. Everything from an online IT degree program to a nonprofit management program is available through online courses; giving today’s students the ability to juggle schedules so that they can take advantage of all worlds – earning a degree and continuing to work.

Break Into Nonprofit Management the Easier Way

Filed under: Nonprofit Management, Online Business Degree — Online MBA Editor @ 2:35 pm

Nonprofit management is an incredibly rewarding field that can deliver challenges and excitement both. Breaking into this field does, however, require a very special skill set. Beyond an online business degree, nonprofit management often calls for a specialized area of study that will prepare candidates for the wide variety of tasks they are likely to have to tackle.

If you’ve been considering this field, but are unsure how you’d fit training classes into your life, the Internet is the place to turn. Here you will find accredited online degree programs that can help you get your foot in the door. Thanks to the ever-expanding popularity of online college courses, it is now possible to get degrees in a variety of areas, including nonprofit management. For example, online IT degree programs, masters in education programs and more are all now readily available.

When you take the plunge and decide to go into an online degree program, don’t expect the easy way out. While classes for an online business degree or management degree will be more convenient and might save you a little money, they are not a free ticket. You will still have to:

Complete course work – Online classes are just as hard as those that take place in a physical classroom. Homework will still be a part of the equation and so will other special assignments.

Take tests – Online students are still required to take and pass tests to obtain their credits. There is no way around this one. Where tests are administered – in a testing site or online – will depend on the program.

Going online to get a degree in nonprofit management can open the door on this exciting career field. This route is “easier” in regard to convenience, but it still offers all the challenges that on-campus students face.

Drive Your Future with An Online MBA

Filed under: Online MBA — Online MBA Editor @ 4:24 pm

In this time of flux in many career fields, some people are discovering their best bet is to take the bull by the horns and switch jobs while there’s still time. Others are finding it’s the perfect opportunity to go back to school and train to do something else. For many, the best option is an online MBA.

The benefits of going online for business or nonprofit management degrees are many. Students often discover this setting does not take away from the learning they would experience in a classroom, but actually enhances it by offering:
