I was one of those people that always loved being in college; I would never have left if I had had any choice in the matter. But four years after I started I earned my undergraduate degree and it was time, as my parents emphatically reported, that I got a job. So it was that I left school and embarked upon my career which would lead me many states and twenty years away from the earning of my undergraduate degree. I always wanted to further my education – continue with what I started – but every year seemed to propel me mentally further from my goal and with my accumulation of responsibilities the reality of attending school just seemed to become cloudier and cloudier.
Perhaps I was just waiting for a more convenient time - which has apparently arrived with the advent of the Internet through which I can now make strides in continuing my education without having to change my whole life around in the process. What I am specifically looking at right now is the online business degree program through a highly ranked school with a great reputation in education.
Through this program I will complete ten courses in order to earn my online MBA – courses that are completed entirely through Internet learning. So no longer do I have to make the decision between continuing with my full time job and going back to school; with the online business degree program I am able to do both.
And because the school I chose has career services at the disposal of students, I can even explore the possibility of entering a new career field when my schoolwork is completed. The online degree programs available today have really given students the best of all worlds in terms of career and education; something that I am happy to have the opportunity to enjoy.

Not many of us turn up our noses at January 1st as just another day; in fact, most of us look at this one particular day in our year as a turning point in which we can clear the slate and start over in terms of pursuing those goals that are important to us. New Year’s resolutions, as they are often referred to, are our opportunity to start clean and get motivated; something that our society really loves to do and responds to, at least in the short term.
Such a time of the year may inspire those who have been considering going back to school to look into what is required of them through this process. And what they may come to realize is that there are far more opportunities in terms of education than there were when they initially left the classroom. Today, online degrees are the popular way to pursue an education for those who already shoulder much responsibility and would not have the time or the inclination to commute to a traditional campus.
An online business degree, for example – a program that offers the popular business degree for which many professionals return to school to pursue – can be found through many highly reputable colleges and universities; a way to engage an audience that has limited time and the ability to work independently from their computer and through their Internet connection.
An online business degree can be pursued while the student simultaneously works full time, raises a family, and engages in all the activities and daily schedules that make traditional class work out of the question. There is only the need for a computer and the time it takes to work on your own in order to earn an online business degree. And even come February, when everyone else’s New Year’s resolutions have gone out the window, you’ll still be on the road to a degree.

There are, unfortunately, many people finding themselves without jobs right now as businesses reassess and find ways to cut corners and keep their doors open. With layoffs at an all time high in recent years, there are more people in the market for jobs and less and less jobs available. This of course will turn as it always does; the job market ebbs and flows according to the economy and those in it will see brighter days ahead. But this does not make these darker days any less stressful.
While it may seem counterintuitive to spend more money right now, the fact is that for those of us with some time on our hands these days and weeks represent a time that we may never get back; a time in which we can do something for ourselves that may even propel us forward in our career as we look for more opportunities down the road. An online degree program is a way in which non-traditional students can pursue the degree of their choice without giving anything up in terms of their current schedule.
Those with a computer and an Internet connection know how easy it is to go back to school even if they are not making that drive and sitting behind that classroom desk. Everything from an online business degree to an online IT degree is available through online degree programs in reputable colleges and universities around the country.
So instead of waiting around for the job market to turn, many people are making ends meet with “filler” full time or part time jobs and returning to school by turning on their computers. This small investment ensures them that when they do return to their careers, this time perhaps armed with an online MBA, they’ll be able to hit the ground running.

There will be many gifts given and received this holiday season; most that fit the bill for the current time period but which may very well be forgotten by the end of January. Such is the way of the holidays – we run around, scrambling to find something that we know the recipient will love and often spending more money than we have to do so. And within a month’s time that very thing that that we gave with love, that they loved so much, is essentially discarded to a corner of a room or the bottom of a drawer – used here and there but largely forgotten about.
Giving gifts with longevity is the challenge of every holiday season. And there are ways to do just that. But it goes beyond finding the gift of the moment and comes down to finding something that will be utilized throughout the year; something that will resonate deeper than any “thing” that they may quickly forget about as soon as the wrapping paper is discarded.
For those who may talked about going back to school for as long as you’ve known them, there is a holiday gift that will not only bring a few moment’s worth of joy but will open many doors of opportunity for years and years to come. The online degree is something that has gained popularity over the years; transitioning students from classrooms to at-home computers. And it has made going back to school easier than ever as people pursue their online business degree, online IT degree, and even online MBA.
While you certainly cannot map out a person’s future for them you can at least put the tools in their hand to change their life. By gathering all of the information you can about online degree programs and giving it as a gift you can give a gift that will last a lifetime.

I have always been the one in my family that jumped into any situation all at once without giving too much thought to it. If I liked it and it looked good then I was all in and the consequences were something that I would deal with at a much later date. Sometimes this worked out for me – jumping in with gusto granted me many lovely rewards. But sometimes it did not work out and I paid the price of putting all my eggs in one basket without any thought whatsoever to what I would do afterwards.
When I left college – right in the middle of my degree program – it was the seventies and I was much more interested in exploring the world than sitting behind a desk, classroom or otherwise. This was one of my signature moves and to this day it is the only one that has had both worked out and not worked out. On one hand I did get to explore the world and I met a lot of great people doing it, including my wife. Also, I got to see places that I would never have had the chance to see if I had been in school.
On the other hand, however, there was just never a good time to go back for that degree and by the time I was even in a place to consider it we had started a family and just having a steady paycheck was our only priority. And so it went. Going back to school hadn’t been in my head for years and years when I came across information about the online business degree programs there were now available.
I was amazed to see that just by taking an online business degree class here and there – and doing all the work through the computer when it was convenient for me – I would be back on track to earning my degree. Sometimes a road not taken is a regret; but sometimes life has a way of letting you eventually explore both roads.

November seems to get here earlier and earlier each and every year. As a family tradition, during the holiday season, some families try and give back to others during this season of giving. It is helpful to give back at all times of the year but during this time of thanks and blessings you feel even more inclined to help others.
It varies from year to year where and whom families decide to help. Sometimes they participate in a walk-a-thon or sometimes they raise funds for a charity. After years of experience doing charity work, some families may find that doing something active is more appropriate or enjoyable for their family, such as planting new shrubs or cleaning up trash by a local park. During certain years or after a natural disaster, some families may decide to help a specific family that is in need, such as former victims of Hurricane Katrina. Families who have experienced such tragedy have since relocated to new areas for a fresh start.
To provide an example of helping a family in need, a husband was the primary breadwinner for his family and he was recently injured. The family has since suffered some financial set backs. The two children were experiencing all the new things that come along with relocating. In addition, the holidays caused them to miss their old friends.
The mother was struggling to finish her online business degree and keep the house afloat. Recently their home was in desperate need of repairs that they could not afford. The small community in which they had resided decided to chip in and help defer the costs and efforts of this project.
Families made trips to the local hardware stores to buy the needed items and get to work on the needed repairs. By showing this family that they are welcome and that the community is truly sympathetic towards all of their hardships and struggles, maybe that simple step of kindness can provide that family with a smile and thankfulness for this season.

I was what you would call the average college girl in the sixties; there to have fun and learn something but – at the core of it all – mostly to find a husband. I won’t say it’s pretty and it’s certainly something I don’t condone (nor did I as my first daughter went off to college herself) but it was the way of the world for most women in those times and I was no different. I didn’t fancy myself a professional woman with something to offer the business world; I wanted a husband, a family, and a house to call my own. Essentially I got everything I wanted, meeting my husband midway through my first year at school. By the following year I had dropped out of college and set up house; we got married and he continued on to earn his degree. By the time he graduated we were expecting our first child.
I do not in any way regret my life or the choices that I made but I do recognize that I missed the opportunity to really explore what I liked – what I was good at – and that age and that time is something I can never get back. But today, I am a much different person and I am just now exploring those things that make me happiest and what direction would make me fulfilled as a person – not just as a mother and a wife.
The most wonderful gift to me in this regard has been online learning. Through the Internet I was able to enroll in an online business degree program through which I can complete all of my classes; working at my own pace and at the times that are most convenient for me. I no longer have small children at home but I do work a part time job and this method of learning has fit so nicely into my routine.
When I finally graduate with my online business degree the sense of accomplishment that I will feel is something that I can only now imagine. But I do know this; armed with that degree I will feel like I finally did something that was just for me.

When I left college in my twenties I was about twelve credits shy of my degree. Everyone around me told me I was crazy but the truth was that I had officially run out of money and I was offered a job with a great company. My plan was to work for a bit, save up the money I needed and finish school at night. Of course, now I laugh at how naïve I was; so much can happen between our planning and the reality that life brings us.
I loved my job and excelled quickly and when I thought of going back to school I could just not imagine how I would swing the schedule. I was already exhausted and working a lot of overtime hours. How would I be able to commit to attending classes at night when I had so much on my plate already? Fast forward ten years later and I was still saying the same thing except now I had two kids to consider as well. But little did I know how much change this past decade had meant in the world of education.
I quickly discovered that the Internet was indeed a solid partner in the world of education. It was no longer the “Wild West” days of online education. Today, students of all calibers, at all different stages of their education, and pursuing all types of degrees can just as easily find what they are looking for online as they can in a traditional campus setting. Everything from a degree in nonprofit management to a Masters in education can be found online where the schedule is on us and where students can take advantage of a copious amount of flexibility.
I start my online business degree program this week to finish up my schooling finally. And how knows? When I’m done I may just move on to an online MBA!

Like every other high school senior that was graduating in a few short weeks I had quite the number of plans for what I was going to do upon taking my leave of the school where I had spent the last four years. For me, the plan was college, starting with a summer program and followed by a full course load of classes in September as I began my work towards my business degree.
Of course, we make the plans but the plans don’t always come to fruition. Just a week shy of graduation I was involved in a serious car accident. I was lucky to be alive but faced many months of rehabilitation ahead of me. I missed my own high school graduation not to mention the summer program I had looked so forward to attending at my new college. In fact, the closer it came the clearer it was that I was not going to be physically able to start school in September and would have to delay the start of college until I was further into my recovery.
But that didn’t stop me from starting classes as I found an online business degree program that allowed me to complete my studies with only my laptop as my necessary tool. This meant that I could “attend” classes from my hospital bed, and even while I underwent rehabilitation all those many months.
The online business degree program did a number of very positive things for me. For one it allowed me to stay on track in attaining my educational goals. For another, it allowed me stay mentally focused even when I was physically exhausted. I may have been stuck in a routine that involved doctors and therapists but when I logged onto the computer and went to work on my online business degree I was just another student.
